GMA confers Annual Awards to winners who are selected by a jury, consisting of reputed persons from industry and institutions in Goa, selects the recipients following an assessment process based on pre-defined criteria and metrics.
GMA reserves the right to change, modify, alter, add or remove any of the mentioned evaluation processes, criteria or conditions, based on the context of circumstances prevalent at the time of assessment or evaluation. GMA also reserves the right not to present any award for the year if GMA, or the jury, feels that none of the candidates are truly outstanding or deserving of the award, or for any other reason, at its discretion.
Assessment Process
To ensure a sustainable competitive edge in a competitive, and rapidly evolving environment, it is necessary to benchmark management processes and practices. Sustainability of organisations implies integrating organisational goals with the socio-economic development of communities and the ecosystem, which the organisation operates in and impacts, directly or indirectly. GMA has this philosophy as the premise in the design of the assessment process followed and metrics defined for these awards.
- Preliminary: Preliminary assessment will be based on information submitted in the application and not more than 5 candidates (per award) will be shortlisted for the next stage.
- Second Tier: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interaction with the jury for discussion on specified assessment criteria.
- Final: The finalist with the highest relative score will be selected as the winner. The jury will submit evaluation to the Chairman, GMA, who will announce the award winners.
Note: The process above is a broad framework and notwithstanding anything contained in the document above, the jury the award committee, the EC or the Chairman may modify the process, pattern or modes of evaluation based on applications received and other contemporary conditions.
Application Procedure
For the Manager Awards, any individual manager from a private, public or joint sector business organisation located in Goa, who fulfils the eligibility criteria, can apply for the award. Any private, public or joint sector business organisation located in Goa can nominate its employees, who fulfil the eligibility criteria to the award. Applications / nominations to the award should be accompanied by:
- Complete bio-data of the candidate including details of current, previous employment and role in professional bodies
- Brief information about the organisation, along with a brochure if available
- A summary of key financial indicators, authenticated by the Finance Manager of the organisation for the year ended 31 March 2016 and two preceding financial years.
- A concise chart showing key organisation positions and the position of the candidate therein
- Information about the candidate’s initiatives or exemplary performance that led to the growth of the organisation and achievement of specific organisational objectives.
- Information on candidate’s personal initiatives contributing to community welfare and development.
- Any other relevant information to address the specified criteria of assessment.
For the Student Awards, the institute is required to nominate students for the award, by sending the attached nomination form, duly filled, along with the requisite attachments to GMA.
The form may be completed by anyone including the nominee. A person’s achievements are best known to oneself. However, the nominator must sign the form and the nominee must sign the declaration. You may refer to the FAQ at the end for guidance. Applications / nominations to the award should be accompanied by:
- The latest resume of the nominated / applying student
- Brief information about the institute, along with a brochure, if available
- A short description of the course highlighting important features and objectives of the course.
- Any other relevant information to address the specified criteria of assessment.
On receiving the applications, GMA may see additional information relevant to the assessment, which the candidate will be required to furnish within 3 days of the request. All information submitted will be strictly confidential and used only for the assessment process. A shortlist of candidates will be invited for a personal interaction, which may involve presentations and interviews, among other interaction or evaluation methods.
Manager of the Year
Candidates must:
- At least be a Head of an important function in a large, medium or small scale private / public / joint sector business organization located in Goa and should have made an outstanding contribution to the organisation in the past 3 years.
- Not be less than 30 years of age and shall not have attained the age of superannuation as per the organisation, as on 31 March 2016.
- Have a role in leading the organisation to outstanding performance, growth or innovation through the application of their management skills, tools, techniques and methods.
- Have a role in shaping influencing the strategic vision and goals of the organisation.
- Have a role in executing the strategic plan as relevant to the area of operations to achieve strategic goals.
Young Manager of the Year
Candidates must:
- Have at least 3 years of managerial experience in any one of the operational areas in a large, medium or small scale private / public / joint sector business organization located in Goa and should have worked with the current organisation during the preceding 3 years ending 31 March 2016.
- Be within the age group of 25 – 35 years as on 31 March 2016.
- Have demonstrated al round excellence in performance and leadership and should have specific exemplary achievement contributing to organisation’s performance and growth.
Best Management Student of the Year (PG)
Student nominee must:
- Be a student of the Post Graduate course in Management, such as an MBA or a course equivalent to the post-graduate degree in management, from a management education institute located in Goa.
- Be in the final year of the course.
- Be nominated by the Head of the Institute or the Head of the Management Department
- Have demonstrated excellence in academics and co-curricular activities.
- Not be related to members of the GMA Executive Committee or its office bearers.
Best Management Student of the Year (UG)
Student nominee must:
- Be a student of the Undergraduate course in Management, such as an BBA or a course equivalent to bachelor’s degree in management, from a management education institute located in Goa.
- Be in the final year of the course.
- Be nominated by the Head of the Institute or the Head of the Management Department
- Have demonstrated excellence in academics and co-curricular activities.
- Not be related to members of the GMA Executive Committee or its office bearers.
